About The Speaker

Bernie Kuslikis is Chemical Engineer and Senior Manager with over thirty five years of multi-disciplinary engineering and management experience with a water/wastewater utility and in related environmental industries. He has been involved in all aspects of managing process intensive systems and projects in both the private and public sectors with progressively increasing responsibilities in water safety management, environmental stewardship and bottom line accountability. After the Walkerton tragedy in 2000, as Plant Operations Manager, he spearheaded Durham Region's development and implementation of an integrated management system for its fourteen water supply systems which in 2003 was accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). He was a member of the Ontario Ministry of Environment's Licensing Working Group that developed the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard and Municipal Drinking Water Licence Program promulgated as O.Reg.188/07. He Co-Chairs OMBI¡¯s (Ontario Municipal Benchmarking Initiative) Water and Wastewater Panel and is a recognized Canadian expert in the development and promotion of ISO Guidelines and CSA National Standards for the use of Performance Indicators in the effective management of water and wastewater utilities.
