Lean Manufacturing / Lean Service Organizations Nov_09

“Lean Manufacturing / Lean Service Organizations – choosing the best tools in tough economic times”Dr. Trevor Smith, Quality Integrated Solutions

Often when approaching quality improvement, people jump at using new tools. In challenging economic times there may be additional concerns trying new approaches. Lean models and tools helping to improve organizational effectiveness apply to manufacturing and service businesses alike, and it is mainly about people; Toyota say that Lean is 90% people and 10% tools.

Many approaches from the Lean toolbox may be used in business applications but the effectiveness of deployment is dependent on how the tool is used and by whom. In this session, simple tools that are fundamental to Lean will be described and critiqued in relation to other quality approaches.

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & COO, SATISTAR

Many businesses today need to rapidly and reliably reduce costs.

SatiStar’s Cost Reduction Roadmap helps you achieve just that.

Our approach can help your organization:

·   Rapidly understand your business processes using Process Flow Diagramming (PFD)

·   Quickly identify, prioritize and address high risk areas of these processes using Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

·   Deploy a structured approach to rapid improvement (Continuous Improvement)
